911 Emergency Services Data Analysis

The Objective

This data analysis was performed to determine the effectiveness of TalentClick assessments to predict on-the-job success by analyzing additional data. Data analyzed included: detailed attendance data from Emergency 911 Operator incumbents and job analysis data from ‘Job Experts’. The analysis will refine TalentClick and the client’s understanding of how to predict on-the-job success by building on previous insights, predicting attendance scores, and ‘Passing the Training Milestone’.
The top 9 most predictive traits for long-term success in the 911 Operator role were identified. Additional data analyzed led to:

  • Identify how to maximize the effectiveness of TalentClick assessments
  • Identify an Ideal Profile Job Benchmark based on all research
  • Recommend ongoing use and objectives for follow-up data analyses

Business Reasoning

Business Reasoning (BR) is a cognitive skills assessment that measures advanced language/verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning and problem solving capabilities. Verbal Reasoning is a top predictor of on-the-job success for emergency services 911 operators.

Traits that Predict Success
  • Verbal Reasoning
Work Values & Attitude

The WVA measures a participant’s alignment with an organization’s corporate values. For emergency services 911 operators these values translate to on the job performance.

Traits that Predict Success
  • Responsibility
  • Open Communication
  • Coachability
Workstyle & Performance Profile

The WPP personality assessment identifies “soft skills” in participants. Note: Interestingly, the dimension ‘Empathetic’ which was presumed to be a key dimension, does not emerge as a key factor in the analyses. This seems counter intuitive, but the data clearly supports this finding.

Traits that Predict Success
  • Regimented
  • Dominant
  • Achievement-Focused
Safety Quotient

The SQ assesses a participant’s behavioral risk. For emergency services 911 operators, some of these behavioral traits are important to the job.
